Mike McCarthy

Executive Search and Recruitment

Mike leads Hire Quality's Executive Search and Recruitment practice. He has extensive experience in the search world both as a recruiter and owner with both national and regional agencies.

 

Born in Toronto, Mike did his under grad at the University of Guelph and his Masters at University of Toronto. He has a diverse background, having worked as a graphic designer and an Anglican minister before he began his career in the recruitment field. Mike has been a top producer at both a national agency and a start up. Hire Quality, formerly known as Lighthouse Consulting, has been serving the staffing needs of the GTA and Central Ontario for the past twenty years. Mike has earned the Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) designation, the most widely recognized international accreditation in the staffing industry.

 

For the past nine years Hire Quality has successfully integrated customized Job Simulations into the recruitment process. This innovative selection tool has delivered great value to clients in terms of quality of hire, time to contribution and cultural fit for new employees within their organization. In 2005 Hire Quality received the Barrie Bell Canada Business Excellence Award for business innovation and service delivery.

 

Mike has consistently built long term relationships with clients in a variety of vertical markets including manufacturing, construction, software and service industries. Current clients are a range of small to medium size companies that struggle to hire right the first time. Mike’s business success is due to a combination of a passion for excellence, a genuine interest in and ability to connect with people and a creative bent that allows him to innovate with process and marketing.

 

Mike lives in Barrie with Margie, his business partner. They have three grown children and ten grandchildren! He is invested in the community through his involvement with the United Way, Rotary International, the Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Mental Health Association. He is a member of TEC Canada.

Margie McCarthy

Margie leads Hire Quality's Leadership and Team Development practice. She has over fifteen years of business coaching and team development experience, with a focus on helping business owners and senior management.

 

Margie was a National Business Development Manager with The Pampered Chef where she was responsible for coaching fifty Directors and their teams. She has developed and delivered high-level training workshops at the National Conference level.

 

Her coaching style is grounded in her ability to empathize with people and to accept others for whom they are. She provides the necessary tools and training for self-improvement and holds them accountable for their decisions. Margie is a strong listener who can hear the real concerns of others and help them focus on where they need to grow.

 

Margie has incorporated DYNAMIX™ individual and team assessment profiles in her coaching practice. Margie successfully uses these tools to deliver workshops and programs to help teams become more productive. She can help clients understand themselves and those they work with, helping to identify areas for growth and more effective communications.

 

Over the last four years, Margie has successfully developed Hire Quality's Talent Management services with top tier clients such as Georgian College and the Royal Victoria Regional Hospital and entrepreneurial organizations such as Image Dental Laboratory.

 

Margie is very active in the community. She has been on Georgian College's Foundation Board and has served as Chair for Georgian College's Dream Gala for the past four years. She has also served on the Board of the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce.
