JOB OPPORTUNITY - Accountant / Controller
THE POSITION
Reporting to the President, the Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's finances. Your goal is to keep ownership informed of all financial, operational costs and accounting aspects of the company and to assist them in achieving profitability and growth as per ownership and management plans. You will control and monitor expenditures and report variances. You will establish, maintain and monitor all financial areas - Invoices, A/R, A/P, Payroll, Budgeting, Financials, Inventory and Costing. You will provide accurate and timely financial information and analysis to the owners and act in an advisory capacity for all departments. You must be a hands-on Controller who enjoys a team environment and being involved in every aspect of the day-to-day operations of a small but growing family business.
This position provides a unique opportunity for an ambitious individual who would like to advance their career to a General Manager role in the future. RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the financial, budgetary control, credit, administrative and costing functions
Monitor and analyze daily, weekly and monthly financial, sales and operational information
Perform bank reconciliations, monitor payables and receivables, make collections calls, review inventory and sales
Liaison with bank and prepare financials for external lenders
Prepare monthly financials and analysis for owners (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow and updated forecasts)
Maintain positive cash flow in a construction based business
Prepare annual budget and sales forecasts, year-end audits and inventory count
Review group benefits and insurance policies
Develop and implement strategies to improve cost performance and DSO
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of operating results including production reporting and expenditures
LOCATION: Aurora, Ontario
QUALIFICATIONS
Accounting designation - CPA (CA, CGA, CMA)
Post Secondary Degree/Diploma
Accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP, book keeping and financial reporting, general accounting, A/R, A/P, cost accounting, payroll, inventory management and control
Ability to assemble and interpret information in order to mitigate future pitfalls or to realize future savings
Able to understand and communicate business goals and recognize opportunities for performance improvement
Logical clear thinker who can organize and plan
Able to communicate clearly with ownership and co-workers
Able to work with and manage people effectively
Thrives in a small team environment
Experience in cost accounting and operational efficiency in a production/manufacturing environment an asset
